Varve sedimentation averages 0.07 g cm<jats:sc><jats:sup>−2</jats:sup></jats:sc> yr<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> dry wt or 0.05 g cm<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup> yr<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>.
