Zusammenfassung: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The cation Al<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>Cp*<jats:sup>+</jats:sup> descending from the tetrahedral Al<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>Cp*<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> Cluster after using LDI as ionisation method in an FT-ICR mass spectrometer reacts with Cl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> in the gas phase. The investigation of this reaction together with quantum chemical calculations gives a new approach to the question of existence and stability of an aluminum-aluminum double bond.</jats:p>
