Contrary to analytical methods, the calculation of gradients is not necessary. Thus the method is applicable to a wide range of problem classes.The paper introduces the basic algorithm of an evolution strategy and shows its application on the basis of two simple examples from the field of discrete optimization.</jats:p> |
